Long story warning. I was at a conference with a coworker and sharing a rental car. He calls one morning and wants to leave hotel 10 minutes early. On way to show he asks me to stop in a big strip mall. I figure he wants to stop at drug store or something. Black dude in a Tahoe pulls up and they get out and meet in front of my rental. Words and gestures fly back and forth and I have zero idea what is going on. Dude hands something to my coworker and he jumps in car and yells at me to haul arse. I pull off the road a block away and give him a “what in the frick?!?” He casually explains that the guy was a pimp and that the dudes whore stole his wallet the night before and he was getting it back. He then explains that he normally would have been shite out of luck but that he had hidden his cell phone prior to her arrival and it recorded them having sex and taking money. So he blackmailed the pimp with that. I absolutely exploded on the guy for taking me to this meet up with no warning. Shocked we didn’t get killed. Guy later ended up hooked on heroin and went to prison. This was a white collar guy whose dad owned a business that contracted to the military. They weren’t thugs at all.
