I've been three times over the last couple of years. My advice, scale back your expectations, it's not that much to it, more of a gully than anything. I wouldn't go when it is this wet, but if you do there are some derailed cars at the bottom. While going down, turn right at the tracks and walk about 100 yards the cars will be on the left.

Its a pretty cool area. Would make a nice little state park if they cleaned it up and took in the Lake area at the bottom, and put up some cabins or a campground. Took my boys there a few years ago after a rain (when they were around 6) and they had a blast. But its not much to it other than the view in the above pictures. Just a short trail to the bottom and a railroad track.

Mississippi has a major problem with littering. City leaders and county road crews allow trash to stay around until it virtually disappears over a period of years. It shows the intelligence level of the residents and the lack of care by elected officials.

Red clay is slippery as frick.
I can’t believe this is an actual, destination for anyone.
We used to smoke weed here in the 90’s off campus at USM… we were just riding around and stumbled upon it. Next thing I new 20 years later it’s a place people actually go… he’s right, just look at the pictures. Done. Don’t kill a day driving to this big hole…unless you’re gonna smoke. ??

The pics are nice, and I like Red Bluff, but the pics make it look many times better than it actually is.

Which is a direct result of bad farming practices.

Sounds more like you were smoking before you "stumbled upon it"
and maybe smoking a lot since then. It was a place where people actually went going back to at least the 1970s, jack... my dad (who lived in Hattiesburg) took us there a few times back then when we were kids, and there were plenty of other folks going, too... This was so long ago it was before the OLD highway fell into the eroded bluff, mind you.
