Devastating new results on the effects of state-funded pre-K programs.

In policy you rarely get stronger study designs than random assignment + multi-year longitudinal follow-up.

Yikes.

It is incredibly rare in the social sciences to get a randomized controlled Study. It’s the holy grail of accuracy. The results aren’t pretty

It CORROBORATES another randomized study on pre-k, conducted in 2018

Don’t know about the “education”, but I would think socializing kids is a good thing.

I been said this since my 19 yr old was put in Pre-K 3 in 2005.

That shite is stupid unless it's just for daycare and socializing chirrens.

That’s what daycare is for

I believe my boys have benefited greatly from being in Pre-K/J-k/whatever you call it. I can see the difference in them and my sister's kids who go to daycare 3 days a week. That being said, it is a private school not a state funded school

As much as Democrats want to make our children the “government’s children”, success in education is a function of parenting not schooling.

So it turns out educational outcomes likely depend more on parental involvement and discipline outside the classroom.

Shocker.

Do most people really kid themselves into thinking there's any meaningful distinction between the two?

Didn't they actually try a program similar to this decades ago and it failed then as well?

There is a very large potential impact to the results when they say "randomly assigned". I would cut and paste the specific part I'm referencing but you made it a pic instead of text.

State funded pre-K applications aren't as 'random'-ly selected as that summary implies.

Few benefits of state-run pre-k programs, right? Because I guarantee kids going to private preschools are performing way higher than their peers who don’t.

The problem will always be at home. Kids that need a government funded preschool will never be given the resources they need to succeed because what they need is a nuclear family that teaches responsibility, a love of learning, kindness, a respect for life, compassion, etc.

Eh, I wouldn’t want to make a determination that Pre-K isn’t beneficial for all demographics when the one that’s targeted here often doesn’t value education and poverty (and the issues that come with it) can have negatives effects for students all on its own.

I always though pre school was just daycare for the non babies but essentially the same thing. Maybe a little more focused on education than just play time.

This reads like Pre-K kids started off ahead, got bored and developed poor habits in school. Seems odd they tracked the kids to 6th grade. Seems like you would evaluate the effectiveness of pre-k based on kindergarten and maybe 1st grade success.

IMO from a child development perspective, Pre-K should be more play and less rigid education. Kids develop and learn through play and honestly, I’d argue if you’re a low-income kid living in public housing or a shitty neighborhood you probably don’t get a real, safe opportunity for supervised play.

There is a reason the Democrats have such a hard-on for pushing pre-k “education” and it has nothing to do with providing an actual education. They know the sooner a kid is in a state run school, the sooner that kid can be immersed in Party approved leftist propaganda.
