Mine is going later this month to DC for the Pro Life March. Not letting him go didn't really even cross my mind. He could get killed by a drunk driver right here at home ... I still let him drive.

I understand where you're coming from ... but we're ok with him going.

eta: He went last year as a junior and said it was an awesome time. They actually spent a week in and around DC. No trouble whatsoever.

Is it close up? I went. Admittedly that was twenty years ago, so I guess the problems you're alluding to weren't issues then? (Terrorism)

If you're just worried about general safety, I'm pretty sure he'll be fine. If you do let him go, send plenty of spending money. The vodka was really expensive to obtain as a minor

Yes really

I don't fly anymore or go to places with large gatherings like a sporting event, the movies or the mall

Well I still go to movies but only the matinees after the movie has been in theaters for a while.

Out of an over exuberance of safety or what?

Yeah basically

I don't want to be a sitting duck and get blown up or shot

I've gotten up and left a restaurant because a middle eastern sat near me.

I live in fear daily

Is there some Christian thing coming up again soon? I wouldn't let that worry me if I were you. There are gatherings like that all the time here, and the presence of many thousands of people for them is barely noticeable. Hell, the Pope was just here recently. Those numbers were certainly noticeable. You'd think if bad guys were going to try to pull something, that would've been an ideal time for them.

I have a (much, read: under 17) younger sister going on this same trip. This thought has never crossed my parents' minds. They have no reservations about sending her. They've had good experiences with sending children on bus trips to the March for Life in the past.
