Was looking through my buddies younger brothers year book who graduated from Davidson. I counted attractive looking girls. Halfway through I stopped and started including attractive lookin people. Think I counted 5 total by the end of it.

If your coming to NC for college- there are many better schools than those two. Davidson is small and nice but expensive. Elon is nothing special and not much around.

Elon is full of northerners who couldn’t get into a better school. Plus there’s not much to do in the immediate area. Davidson has a nicer campus but is still majority northerners.

I think this perfectly describes the two schools. Mostly Northerners that needed a place to land and didn’t need financial aid. Both of these schools won’t turn down anyone who can pay the tuition without assistance.

I’ve not been impressed by the quality of education or the quality of the outcomes that these schools produce.

I would go with either Bill & Mary or Wash & Lee. Good people at both. I think Wash & Lee is a bit more conservative but people are trying like hell to change it.

Richmond had a nice campus, but it felt too "uppity" for me and it was kind of isolated from the rest of the city.

Haven't been to Wiliam and Mary, but have been to Williamsburg. To be completely honest, it's just not somewhere I could see myself going to school. Looked ultra-boring and hard to get to.

If he’s being offered I’d go JMU. Just joined the sunbelt. Almost won it in their first year this year. Things heading in the right direction.

Academics wise it seems like a great university with a ton of things going for it.

I don’t think Davidson gives football scholarships and it is expensive as hell.
A friend of mine played baseball for Davidson. That place is tiny and reminded me of a continuation of high school. It's a really good school though.

Academically?

William and Mary or Washington and Lee. Richmond is also a very good school.

He's right, and you are wrong, unfortunately.

Because of the political climate, and because of how bad things are, I would not do Richmond.

I don't know what Williamsburg is like right now, but I would assume it's very strange.

My family has been going to UVA since the university opened its door, and I went there too. I would not send my children there and I would discourage anyone else from doing so. I avoid Charlottesville generally.

JMU is a women college that went coeducational in the 70s, and had a commuter school reputation for a long time. I've met good people from there, but whatever it's good at, there are other schools that do what they do better. For a long time it was a popular out of state school for people from New Jersey. I don't know if that's still true.

VMI has been gutted.

Washington & Lee. I don't have recent personal knowledge, but I would be very cautious. They got hammered over Lee and they had the graduate student protests. Do you research first, figure out what it's like today. I hope they're okay.

Virginia Tech, it always had a strong blue collar influence, and it was physically isolated down in Blacksburg. If it's what interests you, it may be okay.

Hampden Sydney, the last time I spoke with someone about it, was four years ago, they said it hadn't changed much. I think it's your best best.

Aren't some of those D3?
No offense, but D3 is glorified intramural sports. No scholarship money.

You can get a grant in aid at a DIII school. It’s not like there’s no money available.

Yeah. VCU near the ghetto? Yes. UofR? Not at all. It’s in an exclusive part of Richmond.

Yeah, there’s nothing ghetto about UR. West End Richmond is one of the nicer areas of any city in the southeast.

Regarding OP, W&L, Davidson, and W&M are the most rigorous academically. Much different student bodies and experiences though, so go visit each.
