I did pretty well in HS with girls like that.

ETA: there may have been some asking but not much telling that I ever heard about

Whatever works for you...but this is not what I envision when I talk about a relationship...and I sincerely hope that my children do not either.

He loved me... but didn't want me to miss out on life while I was in college and he was gone 90% of the year on combat duty. I didn't mess around with a lot of...guys ... and my time with him was his. But I didn't get to get mad at him for anything he may have done in Singapore, either.

I went to this dorm "mixer" my first week at LSU. A friend and I wound up meeting these two girls from Miller dorm. I wound up talking to one of them for most of the night. She gave me this sob story about her and her high school boyfriend of four years had decided to go to different colleges, but remain dating. A week or so before they officially left, he had told her that he thought it would be better if they didn't "officially" stay a couple (although he did want to possibly hook up on weekends), because he wanted them both to "grow" while in college. She was convinced that he had met another girl when he had gone up a few weeks earlier for some sort of orientation/testing weekend.

Let's just say I gave her a shoulder to cry on and she gave me a blow job. All in all, a pretty fair swap.

I only know 1 HS couple that stayed together through college, got married and still are.

Started dating a girl when we were both in 11th grade. Dated all through college. Got married 14 years ago. 3 kids and more pets than I can count.

People always wonder how can you only have sex with one person but it's not hard if you marry a adventurous woman.

It is all about timing. You met the "one" when it was all perfect for both of you. Congrats and I mean that.

My timing just sucks...

I agree. We had/have a lot of factors going for us. The biggest thing is that she's cool as hell and isn't crazy.

My college girlfriend went to college still having her high school boyfriend... I met her at a bar my first night of my sophomore year...needless to say she broke up with him a week or two later and we dated for 2 years.

They will be looking and all bets are off when alcohol is involved and they are free from the nest
