High-ranking Ascension Parish deputy arrested for DWI

According to the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office, Captain TJ Gaughf was stopped around 12:15 a.m. Sunday on Airline Highway in Duplessis.
Deputies said Gaughf registered a .15 BAC and was booked in jail on first-offense DWI.
Gaughf has been suspended indefinitely pending the findings of an internal investigation.

Is a blood test not involuntary in LA?
Or maybe it was that a first offense is a much lighter penalty than being suspended for a year?

Maybe, but in a much of the state the local cops often can back up LSP a lot faster than another trooper can.
I think the thing is LSP works a lot more DWIs and DWIs with injury and with fatalities. I've heard even young troopers have to do death notifications (with a supervisor present). You knock on a few doors at 3:00 a.m. to tell parents that their child is dead because of some drunk POS, then you start developing a real intolerance to frick boys that drive drunk - cop or no cop.
