In the last few days, all across Texas, very ordinary, salt of the earth men and women are doing heroic things to keep this state livable. Guys are risking life and limb climbing power poles in the freeze. People are solving complex problems in ingenious ways to get power, water, and LNG flowing again. Hundreds of stories of their ordeals will be told around candlelit supper tables when they finally stumble home to their families each night. Their families will look on them with love and admiration as the stories are told. And most of those stories end there. We will never hear them all, we can never truly appreciate the hard work and sacrifice they are making.

So if you are person who prays to a higher power, take some time today to say a prayer of thanks. Ordinary men and women doing extraordinary things, for the sake of us all. Bless these heroes.

Sounded like sarcasm. Yesterday there was some guy on here making light of the job linesmen do. Apologies if you were being sincere

The rare OT reply and acknowledging you may be wrong along with an apology.

I put a ice chest under my gutters to collect rainwater for flushing potties.

5 years of engineering at LSU. My professors would be so proud... I’m basically a hero.

Kid in my fishing club graduated lineman school. 8 or 10 weeks in North Carolina. Kids makes more money than I do without a college degree and very little experience. Now he works his arse off and travels a lot, but he makes BANK.
