Hero German Shepherd Beaten and Shot Multiple Times Saving His Owner from Burglars

Wish I could go to Washington right now and give that dog a big hug and the biggest MilkBone I can find. Glad he survived.

Best breed ever IMO... Shepherd is the perfect name for them... sharp as a tack, fearless, protector, obedient, learns very fast, eager to serve a purpose, and loves their family more than themselves. This is not shocking. It just fits them like a glove. I’ve had two and both were just like this. I so love these dogs, and it doesn’t hurt that they’re so damn awesome looking.

German Shepherds will protect their owner to their death.. A guy down the road from me has a German Shepherd. He is gentle, he plays with my little dogs, but even when he barks playing around he sounds like a lion. He is one of the most well trained dogs I ever been around. He was running around playing with my dogs and his owner called him.. And he kind of looked at him and kept playing, the owner said it again with a raised voice and the dog went running to him. If he tells him to sit, he will sit until the owner gives him permission to move. If someone ever tried to hurt his owner, he would absolutely do whatever he could to protect him. It's pretty impressive.

It sounds like they had to fight the dog off, hopefully the dog was about to leave some visible bite or scratch marks.

What a great dog! Glad that Rex and the boy both survived. The GoFundMe that was asking for $10K for the dog's surgery is at almost $30K.
