Really? I guess I just assumed you did ... does that mean that you can seriously go back to a therapy provider with recurrent or different issues and be treated?

Husband had back pain. They did carpal tunnel surgery on wrist. Then did second carpal tunnel on other wrist. The next surgery was scheduled for neck fusion. About 8 months later finally did back surgery which was the original complaint. He lost about 45lbs between last two surgeries and I did not want him to do surgery. 7 hour surgery. Complications that night NeuroC could not take care of moved to Lake against my wishes. Passed away 5 days later. Oberlander was the rudest piece of crap to me.

Depends on the PT and how they choose to practice, but in LA as long as the patient has been diagnosed by a MD/NP/PA, etc within the last 90 days the PT can evaluate and treat as long as whoever diagnosed the condition is notified within 14 days, or something very similar to that

I'm in PT right now ... the doc just wrote "eval and treat". Never thought to ask but I'm hoping that means just that -- treat until it's made good improvement. Like the PT, know him personally and I'm not worried about him abusing me or my insurance. I just thought you needed an order. Thanks.

Thank you. It's been a few months now and I still feel like I am in shock. I'm the kind of person that needs to know what happened and met a lot of unnecessary resistance trying to figure it out. They ask stupid questions and talk down to you which infuriates me. Oberlander was not the only arse I encountered just the biggest one.
I begged my husband not to have the surgery and he was determined to get some quality of life back.
I pray your surgery goes well and look forward to reading your post about how good you feel.

I ruptured the disc between L4 and L5, in 2004. Was on my back for nearly four weeks. Physical therapy actually made it worse. I had the microdiscectomy performed by a neurosurgeon. As a neurologist I know put it - yes, an orthopedist can do the surgery, but if you're going to have someone poking around your spinal cord with a razor blade, don't you think it's a good idea to go with the guy who had the extra training on nerve surgery?

The pain did not go away automatically afterwards. Of course, results will vary depending on the degree of nerve damage done. Doc said my sciatic nerve was almost black from being squeezed between the two discs. I still have spots in my legs with no feeling.

Dr. Luke Corsten did my surgery. No more pain. He has done head (tumor) surgery on my son and a more complex head surgery on my grand daughter. He has been wonderful for us. Would not hesitate a minute to refer or return to use him again. We do not live in Baton Rouge and travel 2 plus hours to see him.

He's not currently a candidate for this therapy. This would border on or qualify as malpractice.
