Helping the poor is big business.

In today's Advocate they published a map of EBR indicating where all the poor people lived by percentage. I guess we don't have enough poor people so they gin up a new statistic.
Using that number, I learned that "pre-flood" 24% of the people in Central and in Zachary are poor and 49% in the city of BR are poor. Oak Hills place comes in at a whopping 1(% and I always thought that area along Highland Road is prosperous.
The numbers state wide are pretty bad too.
Perhaps we all need to fork over more money to the United Way, the Red cross, or maybe even raise our taxes. Maybe on the way to work we could drop a gift basket or a ham or even a pizza over at the EBR COA. We have too many poor people.

While the federal poverty level for a family of four in 2014 was $23,850, the number crunching in the report reveals that a family of four in Louisiana needs at least $46,240 to cover the most basic costs of living.

Forty-two percent of Louisiana households were already struggling to afford housing, transportation, food and other basic needs before August's floods struck and many lost all of their possessions, a new report shows.

You sound greedy. You need to give a bigger piece of the pie to taxes so the government can create more living wage jobs and get these poor folks above the poverty line.

I am going to do something. I'm calling Dominos and having them pick 10 houses at random in Oak Hills and buy those folks a large pizza.

I wonder how many of the households in BR consist of the elderly that are on fixed incomes.

Well if they don't make over 42K a year they are poor now even if their house is paid off, etc.

I'd agree that a family of 4 with an income of $42K would seriously struggle to maintain a middleclass lifestyle
I believe they coined the term "Working Poor" for the families below middle class but above the poverty level.
Not saying they would deserve gov't support.

You know the final solution. You're almost there, but might need a gentle nudge in the reich direction.

Want to become a millionaire? Open a church or start a charity... This is nothing new.

Nah, I don't give to crooked organizations.

Can I assume this includes platinum cell phone contract, tats & rims?
