My father in law had kidney cancer — don’t know more than that type wise. They only found it while scanning for other spots when he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Prostate cancer saved his life as by the time symptoms would have shown for the kidney cancer it wouldn’t have been good is all that I was told.

He had surgery in Lafayette and is fine — that was in 2008 or 2009.

Prayers for your brother and you as you help him through this. You may have to get him to sign an authorization form for the insurance to speak with you about him. (Just had to do that with my husband).

God speed.

I dont feel right telling you this. But I cant let him go down a rabbit hole. 32k seems criminal. My Dr is a UAB grad. Knows his stuff. His dad was a urologist. It isnt a chemo type cancer. Cutting it out is the only treatment. You should get a second opinion.

That’s what we were told about my fil. Removal/resection is the cure for what he had. No idea if it’s the same but yes I’d get a second opinion for sure.

ETA almost positive my fil didnt have any chemo — radiation pellets for the prostate cancer but I don’t recall any treatment other than surgery for the kidney. And it was a short hospital stay as well.

Does he have minor children? He may need you to help raise them as he’s fighting.

Just be a good little brother to him.

That's what happened to me. They were looking for gi issues. After the scan they were all looking at me like I had the cooties. I was like 30. Dr called 20 mins after I left the scan and said there was an issue. Worst day of my life.

This is the only type of situation that Obama care actually made a difference. Go shop for insurance - pre-existing conditions are covered. My friend did this recently for her mom and it made all the difference. Even if you pay $1k/month for insurance, you’re looking at a much more manageable cost for life saving treatment.

I don’t have any additional advice but you and your family are in my prayers.
