I live in a neighborhood with approximately 65 single family homes. 2 of my neighbor’s work for the EBR Sheriff’s office evidently, because their police vehicles sit in their driveway 3-4 days a week 24/7.

I’m only one small subdivision. How many “ extra “ vehicles are sitting around EBR & outside of EBR?
Our government is so freakin wasteful!!!

I'd be happy to have a couple of cruisers parked in my neighborhood.

Quit complaining.
You should feel protected.

Unless you are organizing a BLM protest in front of your neighbor's homes.

Well EBRSO works 12 Hour patrol shifts with 4 on 3 off and then 3 on 4 off the next. So it looks like they aren’t driving the cars around on their personal time off. Unless you are complaining that they get days off work. Or we could have the cars driven seven days a week by back to back to back shifts except that has been shown to wear the cars out faster and ultimately cost more.

Cops can work in the same district in which they live in Louisiana?

Most Alabama cops I know don't live where they work for safety reasons and I think that even be policy in certain precincts.

In rural areas it allows deputies to not have to go all the way into town to start their shift, or if they get called to work unexpectedly. It probably does get abused though

Plus take home cars help with hiring and retention. Most agencies offer it and so to be competitive in hiring you almost have to.

There was a Lafayette police officer that was killed in a shootout a while back. The funeral procession had a staggering amount of Lafayette PD suvs.

Once lived in a subdivision where the HOA would not allow any commercial vehicle parked in a driveway including police cars, seemed stupid.

The thing about stupid people is that they don't know they are stupid. Someone's got to tell them otherwise they walk around like the rest of us.
