I bought mine at blinds.com. I had Bali honeycomb blackout for the two bedrooms and light filtering for the living and kitchen. All in all, I bought 6 custom sets (did measurements myself) for about $1,000. There was a sale going on at the time.

ETA: Just bought these a few months ago and they are great. The blackout blinds are legit.

i have ordered from stevesblindsandwallpaper.com/ several times with great success. i ordered two sets the wrong size, and they shipped me the correct size for free. they have all the major brands and tons of styles. the website is a bit old school, but the blinds are great.

eta steves was always cheapest by a massive margin. i have used for rolling shades, a roman shade and several styles of wood blinds, all with success.

You are going to automate them right?

yep, thats the idea. something like this is cheaper than buying the "motorized version" of the blinds from what i've seen

these guys are $49 each (i'd need 3) and should work with regular chains

so i'm going to buy 'dumb' blinds and then add these because everyone wants $$$$ to add a motor to their blinds which is stupid.

A $49 z-wave controlled motor for existing indoor blinds and shades

Blinds.com worked well for me. They allow you to return the blinds one time only if you're not satisfied so make sure you get samples ahead of time.

For our starter house, we used blindster . com. Co-worker owned the Budget Blinds in our area and he tried to tell me he could beat any pricing. I told him what I was paying and he didn't believe me. I showed him my receipt. I did my whole house for like $350. They were by no means top of the line, but they were white faux wood blinds that looked really good. Sent them my window measurements and everything fit perfectly. My current house that is a little "higher end" has blinds that look no better than those.

I will ask my wife for Nashville contacts. She has had ours made for our last two houses through her company contacts for not a bad price. I think they came out of Atlanta though.

Probably won't meet your idea of affordable though, lol.

Thanks! would appreciate the info either way.

the person who suggested 'the shade store' on page one is my current leader; have all 3 windows sourced at $150 total for blackout shades with really good reviews.

but local is good :)

I saw "blinds" , knew you were from Monroe, and assumed duck blinds. $4k for that is cheap.

Yelp it for your area.

I get inexpensive blinds at Home Depot. I buy the fixed width and have HD cut them to size.

I noticed the dogs in the pic. Go with the cheap blinds initially until you find out if the dogs tear the blinds up!

My cats chew thru them. But at $7 each they are easily replaceable!

The guy she always dealt with moved on a few years ago unfortunately. She says she will ask her office in Nashville, but I doubt she will remember.
