A memorial service /= a funeral.

First off, the State didn't release any of the bodies from the crash until just a few days ago. I'm sure there were studies of toxicology, etc performed.

Second, it is somewhat a Black cultural thing to have a funeral much later than typical whites do. Nothing wrong with either, I suppose

I've been to several funerals/memorials recently where the services didn't take place until several weeks after the deceased passed. I like it since it gives family & friends a time to get over the shock.

He was Jewish so they are required to be buried ASAP without memorials/ viewings, etc. They also don't embalm the body.

The dude was 103. I'm sure he and his family had this planned for years. The announcement that there would be no public service went out almost immediately.

Kobe died young and suddenly.

Get your completely logical narrative devoid of any agenda OUT OF TD. Good day, sir.

Kirk Douglas' body had been slowly being preserved over the last 10 years or so, therefore the mortician's job was basically done. They really just needed to throw a suit on him and put him in the casket.

Wasn’t he Jewish?
Kirk Douglas, born Issur Danielovitch grew up speaking Yiddish in his family’s Amsterdam, New York home.

His parents were emigres from the Russian Empire, specifically the area of present-day Belarus.

And yes, Virginia, he was Jewish.

ESPN will push the media coverage, but beyond that, not an extremely large viewing audience.
Diana's funeral was watched worldwide, even though it was broadcast in the morning in the US

The longer it is between death and burial, the more it turns into a celebration of life rather than a grieving event. I had a great uncle that died on a Monday and they buried him on Saturday to allow his son, who was battling cancer, to make it home from MD Anderson and it was the most upbeat funeral I’ve ever attended.
