Heartburn?

Got about 2 hours of off and on sleep last night with a stabbing pain. Right below my rib cage
Hurt the worst when I tried to lay down. Nothing I took helped
Anyone have frequent heartburn or an ulcer? I'm going to see the doc at 9am. I can't take this pain much longer. Seriously it's like someone has a knife in my upper stomach and keeps turning it

I take 2 Prevacid a day and a probiotic. Helps me.

Sounds more like an ulcer if it's that sharp of a pain. Calcium helps

Not to scare you but that's the symptoms my dad complained of when he had his heart attack.
FYI if you feel the need to go to the ER, Call 911, don't drive yourself. The ER figures if you drove your self you must not be that bad off. You come in on an ambulance with chest pain you are priority #1.

If it wasn't in the middle of your chest, you should go see somebody.
If it *is* heartburn...? Take an omeprezole pill daily and you'll be set. (It's the active ingredient in Prilosec, Zantac, etc)

One of my sons always had some type of indigestion and chest pain and tried omeprazole, and some others. He wa diagnosed with hiatal hernia and the only drug providing relief was Dexilant. You may need an upper GI to know what really ails you.

Does Prevacid (lansoprazole) not work for you? It's weird I've tried omneprazole and it doesn't work. Not sure if it doesn't different things.

it could be mild heart attacks. I have known at least 4 men this has happened to. They went to the doctor for persistent heartburn and dr kept upping the heartburn medicine dosages. All but one ended up having heart attacks shortly there after. Lucky for me, my dad was the only one who didn't suffer a heart attack. They discovered his massively blocked arteries during routine stress test at a physical. 2 hours after his routine physical, they were prepping him for quadruple bypass.
I'm not sure why, but many general practitioners are not aware that mild heart attacks can be confused with heartburn. If you have an issue, and a simple prescription doesn't make it go away very soon, I'd highly suggest getting a thorough physical (stress test and all that) to make 100% sure you don't have something seriously wrong.

I used to live with a pack of rolaids in my pocket everyday. For the last two years I take 1 prilosecOTC every morning and never have heartburn again.

Any of y'all have any side effects from the daily stuff? Or is it well worth it?

quote:Omeprazole has worked wonders, I didn't think it was prudent to keep looking for a solution when I was happy with the initial selection.

No side effects. In fact, the Doc does the same and recommends.
