Well, you are either having a heart attack or gerd.

When was your last rectal exam, you should ask your doc about that when you go.

This is no bullshite...
A friend (~50) of mine went for a couple of mile run in the morning. Got home feeling a little bit "not right". No pain in his chest, arm, jaw or anything like that. He said it felt like heartburn. Lasted all day, so by that night his girlfriend had nagged him enough to go to the hospital. The enzymes in his blood showed he'd had a heart attack.

You might want to get this checked out.

Nexium and just accept that you'll be paying 26 dollars a month from now on.

Nexium's good, but is it really that expensive OTC? I thought more like $21 for a 30-day supply.

Nexium is a nectar of the Gods...

I was quickly developing a stomach ulser in high school. Got on the purple pill for 12 months.

Haven't had a stomach issue in 9 years.

You might want to get that checked out. Years ago my bro-in-law complained of heartburn for two weeks. Kept taking rolaids. Went to work at the firehouse and died that morning if a massive coronary. And he was only 40

For those like me taking proton pump inhibitors, know that they can and likely will make your bones soften over years of use.

Yes. I take protonix prescription. As a precaution I took a bone density test so I had a baseline of my bones.

Do I need to go see the doctor? What are your remedies to get rid of this sh!t for good?

It's worth it at this point. Persistent heartburn could very much stand to be followed by a physician. Not to get ahead of ourselves, but they'll probably attempt prescription treatment. If it's not improved after several weeks, They may take a little scope and peak to look for an ulcer. You're not to that point yet, don't worry. But few doctors will proceed to that (a necessary step in many cases) without following you for several weeks first.

Yes. Friend of mine had these symptoms for several weeks. Finally went to the Doctor and was diagnosed with Colon Cancer. Caught it early, took his treatment and is now clean.

Search and you will find my thread from a couple weeks ago detailing my heartburn that sprung up on me BAD the last couple months. I bought Nexium OTC and it has already changed my life without me having to change my diet.

I've unfortunately been a heartburn guy for about 7 or 8 years now. Nexium fricked my whole system up and actually made me quite sick. i just stick to the rolaids and Zantac to get me through each day. As well as try to stay away from chocolate, and red sauces.

Everymorning I take Nexium and Zantac. Don't feel a Goddamn thing, except when I have too many margaritas. Then I did some damage.

If you have good insurance go to a Dr and get an exam, and tell them you want Aciphex. (best ever)

If not, get over the counter Prilosec and take first thing every morning.

I take 1 Prilosec and 1 Zantac every morning but I know what causes mine - Beer / too much Beer.
