I have felt like I've come close to having a heart attack a few times.

I had to shovel snow out of my driveway after Shreveport’s Snowmageddon four years ago. That crap was no joke. Now granted I was using a spade shovel, but I can’t imagine shoveling snow on a regular basis.

The cold causes blood vessels to contract. This can raise your blood pressure and increase your risk of heart attack and stroke. Angina, or chest pain due to coronary heart disease, can also worsen in winter when coronary arteries constrict in the cold.
One study showed that from 1990 to 2006, about 195,000 people in the United States were treated in emergency rooms for injuries and medical emergencies from snow shoveling. Of those, 6.7 percent were cardiac related, including all 1,647 deaths.

When we moved up here, I shoveled once. My wife (no pics), Lord love her, watched me from the living room window, and was one the phone within the hour to our local Ace Hardware, ordering a snow blower.

As a survivor of heart attacks I can tell you shoveling is rough on the cardio system. Just leave it be.

The cold makes you more prone to injury when your old.
Seriously just let it melt. We just had a foot which stayed on the ground a week. Rock salt was a solid investment. Steps, sidewalk and drive all melted without a shovel. I used a seed spreader to precoat our gravel drive and it worked very well.

One of my papaws died of a heart attack while shoveling snow in April in KY back in the 80s.
Use salt to keep your steps from freezing or let it melt.

Catecholamine levels are high upon waking, vessels constrict. Shovel snow. Blood flow needed but restricted = heart attack. Happens tons of time every year.

Wouldn’t this apply to any strenuous activity in the cold? Not just shoveling snow?

Gotta blame the clot shot on something else lol

Just as many people die beating off in the snow. The media just doesn't report it.
