Hopefully State Police gets out there for some ticket writing before the accidents happen.
High likelihood these people don’t have valid drivers licenses because of unpaid tickets. They get arrested and then get out and keep driving.

What do our Louisiana State Police do? It seems like they only escort oversized loads. Seriously, why doesn't the LSP enforce traffic on the interstates? I recently traveled through Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas and you notice a large number of state police doing what you would think they should be doing, traffic enforcement. Also, Florida has active police patrols on the interstates.
Before getting slammed by the board, why is this?

I've said for years that I believe that stretch must have run through some Indian burial mounds and is now cursed forever. If there was a concrete marker for every wreck along that stretch, it would look like the Berlin Wall.

18 wheelers restricted to right lane only would solve a lot of problems

I drove this stretch daily for almost ten years. I can say specifically and without bias that 18 wheeler traffic is the cause of the road issues on that stretch. And it’s been that way for a long time.
It’s so bad that I couldn’t use cruise control in the days before adaptive cruise control. Big rigs impeding traffic in the left lane or slow passing causes stack ups. People get frustrated and start passing in the right or weaving trying to gain position. As soon as the truck pulls in the right lane, it’s like a nascar green flag restart of people trying to get past the truck before they inevitably get back in the left. It’s not uncommon to have a truck start passing at Walker and not overtake until Holden.
LSP are hardly ever there. And they don’t police this at all. Not condoning drivers behavior, but having lived this stretch for many years I completely get it.

The hack for driving I12 is just get in the right lane and set the cruise about 65-68, that's what I do for that stretch now and my blood pressure is much lower. I got sick of the constant fighting for position and having to ride the arse of the car in front of me so that some a-hole can't come flying up on the right to try to squeeze in. Now I just hang out in the right and let all the other idiots fight it out.
If you are driving 20 miles, the time you save attempting to go 75 mph vs accepting the general mediocrity and surrendering to it and averaging 67 mph instead is on the order of saving less than 3 minutes of travel time. Weeee!
I-12 is ~90 miles in total; 75 mph vs 67 mph average saves you a total of 14 minutes.
(Physician heal thyself- when I drive I-12, I too usually attempt to drive it at 75 mph)

That stretch goes from Florida to California. So many different people from different places drive that stretch.
But let's loop I10 to I10 so the plaquemine to prairieville commute is 15 minutes shorter.
Clown show.
