Audio Technica ATH-M50
I have these. They're fricking brilliant for the price. I was considering some of the Sennheisers and some other models, but many of your better headphones are going to be open models which, as others have pointed out, sound fantastic but leak sound to and from your surroundings. This is no bueno in an office. The ATH-M50 is a closed back headphone.
Those Audio Technicas I got for the office sound great and they absolutely will block out office noises. If my headphones are on, people have to touch me or throw something across my line of sight to get my attention.

I lose headphones left and right, so I get $20 skull candy earbuds from the drug store and they sound great to me.

Sony MDR7506. I paid $80 through Amazon.
They are not wireless. They are over the ear. The fold-up feature for storing them can be aggravating.
Really clear sound. Coworkers that tried them say that they hear details that they never heard before in the songs that they listened to.

I know you said you don’t want to pay hundreds of bucks....
But the Bose QC35’s are worth every penny if you’re looking for noise cancelling.
Allegedly not the greatest sound if you’re an audiophile (I can’t tell a difference) but that’s the best noise canceling technology available, IMO.

Whatever you do, get bluetooth wireless. They changed the game for me. I'll never have to deal with wired connection again if I can help it.
There are ton of affordable options on Amazon whether it be smaller, ear bud types, or over the ear, noise cancelling. I just got these and I think that they rip.

Dude, don't get the DJ headphones. There are many earbuds that are noise canceling. Look at Jaybirds. I've had 2 pair and they are awesome. About $80 for their entry level and $150 for their high end.

I've always had a hatred for ear buds. My ears generate an abnormal about of wax and ear buds make it worse.
A lot of ppl like them.

Bose QC35s are hard to beat all-arounders if you value wireless.
For wired, the Sennheiser 599s on Amazon look like a killer value. I have the 598s and they're amazing for their price if you want open phones.
I just frankly never use my higher end headphones anymore because I love the convenience of wireless.

If you have not ordered anything, check out the recommendation from www.wirecutter.com. They have never steered me wrong.
