Last minute trip in few weeks to see the Thunderbirds fly in Biloxi. Apparently there are events at Keesler AFB in the morning followed by the Thunderbirds flying over the beach in afternoon. My son (5) loves planes so figured this would be a fun "quick trip" from Mobile. Just looking to get a basic hotel room but was curious as to best spots to view the show and also be close to Keesler so the littke guy can look at some planes up close as well. Any tips on where to stay or good spots. Thanks

See shexters post, airfiled is open to public, this is the best way to watch.. So many planes on the airfiled plus the show is directly over Keesler, but go EARLY, traffic is bad. I took my boys many years ago. It does not disappoint.

Thanks, so watching the Thunderbirds from the base would be a good spot? Would actually prefer watching there vs the beach if possible.

I was thinking about taking the kids - probably to just go see the thunderbirds - anyone know what time they usually end up flying? the schedule doesn't say just that it all starts at 9am - I'm guessing like 4pm or so like the "Nawlins" airshow used to be.

I believe the thunderbirds are over the water not Keesler

That was my thinking as well. Not real familiar with Biloxi so not sure how far Keesler is from beach.

About 3-4 blocks from the main gate.

Get a room facing the Gulf at the Beau.

Probably will pay dearly though.

There are no “basic hotel rooms” for this event. Most hotel rooms will be a couple of hundred a night. I think there is a Hampton that still has some availability…I would book immediately. I am not famaiar with that Hampton, but it is in Ocean Springs, which is a damn cool little town.

I have a friend that was invited as a DV. They are being shuttled from Kessler to a viewing stand on the beach. Not saying you can’t see them from post but the AF and their guests are watching from the beach.
I think they fly around 1600-1700.
