Any text from any number not in my contacts gets an immediate Delete and Report Junk. If it’s pressing then that person can figure out how to get in touch with me in a different way. If I have any feeling that it’s legit, then I can research and contact on my own.

Earlier this year I received a FB Messenger from a legit 10/10 who I was friends with on FB but, had never met. Quickly the conversation gets personal with her telling me about owning over 40 rental properties and all of her assets. She'd send pics and reference local events and businesses to make it seem more legit. A couple of times we talked for 3-4 hours on the phone at night laughing and making plans. Within a few weeks she was talking about paying cash for a multi million dollar home that we'd eventually live in. The huge red flag was every time we planned on meeting some tragedy (relative dies, she's in a car wreck ect....) happens and the date's cancelled. After about the 3rd cancellation I deleted her number and blocked her account. She never asked for money but, talked about finances often so, I'm sure it was just a matter of time.

That's a shame it didn't work out. It sounds like she was really into you..

A fool and his money are soon parted. There's a sucker born every minute. Sometimes I'm glad my parents and in laws are poor, they got nothing to be scammed out of

My phone usually says "Scam likely" and I'm getting them all the time now.
Is anyone else seeing a pick up in these?

A few months I received a text that was something about getting dinner. When I responded that they had the wrong number.
They apologized. Then apologized again sort of describing themselves. Again I said no problem. Then they asked a few personal questions.
I either didn’t respond or just blocked their number.

Love watching the YouTube videos of people hacking scammers in India and actually getting into their camera feeds and showing their reaction when they are busted. Classic!

my wife works for a credit/debit card fraud call center - and the amount of fraud she gets daily through social media and such is staggering.

she had one that the person was in the drawing to win a cookware set by Guy Fieri (spelling?) and all they had to do was pay shipping by scanning a QR code.

and they didn't understand why they had fraud. they literally paid shipping on an item they didn't but, and had no "won" through the drawing.

I understand why there is so much Fraud - people are fricking idiots and allow themselves to be bilked out of money.

I mailed a package out on Monday through the USPS and I know it was delivered yesterday because the receiving party called me to say thanks.
Yesterday afternoon I go one of those undeliverable package text but from UPS scam. LOL. Reported and deleted.
Today I get one stating my package couldn't be delivered via the USPS scam. Reported and deleted.
