Its temporary to add a disclaimer to the beginning of the movie, similar what has been done with non PC cartoons of the time.

81 years later and it is still the highest grossing film of all time adjusting for inflation.

Having seen it I can surmise that everyone at the time was incredibly brain shattering bored waiting for literally anything to happen.
