I need to have mine done, but it's ridiculous trying to get to a nose/throat specialist where i live. 5 month wait to be seen, 3 months for any procedures. Meanwhile I'm giving Afrin all of my paycheck.

Worth every penny. Save the last of your pain meds for stint removal. Do not forget this advice at all costs.

Yes, worked like a charm. Had to shave the turbinates as well, but mostly infection free now.

Forgot to say your first allergy season after surgery will cause a bit of a panic, but it improves after that.

I had it done. It's been a mixed bag. I suffer more drainage generally, but I can manage it. Used to get like 5 sinus infections a year. It was fricking ridiculous. Now I get 1 or 2. Breathing is generally a bit better. But I also had to go back in for emergency surgery about 2 weeks later as a deep, deep scab came loose in my sinuses and I couldn't stop bleeding. I sat in an ER for 4 hours while a resident shoved foam into my nose over and over again to no avail before they finally called it and they wheeled me into surgery. I literally bawled like a baby to this little Asian woman doctor as she told me she would have to try one more time to stop the bleeding with the foam. Begged her to stop. They cauterized my sinuses to stop the bleeding afterward. No idea if my mixed bag results are because of this arse clown resident fricking up my surgery, the cauterization, the initial surgery, bad luck, or if it's just the way they all are.

I find it crazy how surgery recoveries can vary so much. I had 100 percent blockage on the left side of my nose and about 50 percent in my right. Was the easiest surgery I’ve ever had, was back in the gym 2 days later. Then I’ve heard other people have had nightmarish recoveries similar to yours.

Sounds like you are gonna have some sweet chill time for 2-3 weeks.

Enjoy the break time

I had it done 20 years ago and my sense of smell is incredible. The only thing that I did't like is that they pack your nose with lots (felt like 3 rolls) of gauze. It was very uncomfortable for 3 or 4 days but once it's removed you can breathe and smell again.

Definitely worth getting it done.

I have the exact same thing. What is the surgery going to set you back? Just curious. May have to do it next year and trying to budget what to put in my HSA.

The worst part is the dissolvable packing.

I have had the dissolvable and the gauze packing and the gauze packing was close to being one of the most painful things I've experienced. As far as I know gauze is no longer used.

This is what I’ve heard from family and friends that did it. Painful recovery and little to no improvement.

I used to get chronic sinus infections and I invested in a good air purifier for my bedroom and moved into a relatively new place (built in 2008) and haven’t had nearly as many issues.
