Helping disabled senior citizens are the types of things the city should be doing with tax dollars instead of emailing a youtuber to do it pro bono.

Probably be better to put her in a nursing home for her last couple years.

helluva lotta work for free

He didn’t cut her grass for free. Lol

He will probably make at least $20k from it when it all said and done. Not a bad day of work. Still a great thing was done, but let’s not act like he did this for free.

I wondered what family she might have because it's apparent no one has come to help her.

The Little Red Hen didn't have a million dollars yet. Watch some relatives show up and suddenly 'care' about her.

they'll take care of that 850k with the quickness.

no, my experience (and i have quite a few) is moving to a nursing home is paramount to going into hospice. she'll be gone inside of 6 months.

give her dignity and help to stay in her familiar surroundings as long as possible.

she'd be way happier feeding the birds in her backyard than sitting in a dark room in a nursing home in front of a tv.

she seems very cognizant, just feeble.

which is probably why he created the gofundme.

sure, his channel is about monetizing views and likes but he did a really good thing here. i just hope that sudden concentration of wealth doesn't do more harm than good for her (aka force her into a nursing home instead of staying in the house she loves as long as possible)

He did a good thing, but no way he would have done that in 1993 for free nor would almost anyone so not holding that against anyone. But he will be very well compensated for this video.

Great point. They can probably get her some help around the house or meals delivered.

Have you been to any nursing homes recently? I'd rather be dead. I have a relative in one now. He was in the assisted living part, but got ill and has to be in the main nursing home for rehab. It's AWFUL. He shares a room with a man who yells and throws the food plate up against the wall. When he was the main part before doing rehab, crazies would walk in and out of his room. His half of the room is tiny and dark, no windows on his side, so he can't see out. Food is awful. It smells badly. They don't check on him much so he's paying sitters to be there multiple times a day. This is supposed to be a "nice" nursing home.

I'm so grateful we can afford to have live in sitters for my Mom. She wouldn't have lived very long in a nursing home. She's quite happy in her own home and got used to the sitters helping her bathe, dress, make food, take to appts and out to lunch etc...

100%

she has enough money that someone can make her house comfortable/accessible/handicap compliant for her to move around in and to pay for meals and help for the rest of her life.

no nursing homes.

just invest that cash well and have some good people lined up to check on her frequently and make sure that backyard is an oasis and bring birdseed weekly to fill up feeders. let that poor woman enjoy the birds and squirrels.

i swear i can't get this story out of my head. too many experiences with close family members i guess

i want to see her thrive.

You lost me here.

Trying to get attention? What is it you think he’s doing? Attention for what? Or what do you think his ultimate goal is here?
