To the point our self-justifications can be reduced to binary 1s and 0s translated on a screen?

What happened to communities? To Neighborhood parks and trust between adults?

It’s all been userped by selflies instead of paranoia.

The inventions of social media and smartphones are the two worst inventions ever. As useful as they are, they created a stupid society.

Validation is exactly right . I went dark on social media in 2012. I also went all in with all my actual relationships. It is about pursuing meaning over validation. If you step back from social media and are away for awhile you realize how phony it is.

Our community is fantastic. Everyone is very neighborly, so much as stopping to say hi or lend a hand. Cars pass by and the occupants always wave. Neighbors hang out during Halloween, etc. Our local park, Pharr Park, is always quite lively with families and singles walking, running and playing daily. I grew up in Old Goodwood and my current neighborhood very much reminds me of my youth.

We were just talking the other day about the significant increase in cutting and self-harming in teenagers/young women. It almost directly correlates with the rise in smartphone popularity.
