Have Houston home prices come back down to earth yet?

Bout time they get back to reason considering the latest oil bust, no?

Still doing pretty well in North Houston. Just signed a contract to build.
Houston is far less oil dominated than it used to be. That's not to say the oil industry doesn't have a large presence - just that the economy is far more diverse.

Really?
Since when?
What's in Houston besides oil companies and related companies (aside from medical)?

It's very oil dominated but oil head offices have been concentrated to Houston. So you have a lot of management/engineers here. It's going lag the field and contractors a bit. I'd say by mid-2016 Houston will start to feel the pain in a meaningful way as companies start to get a feel for what they need in these offices. If prices stay <$50. $60+ will keep us above water.

In the past 20 years.
Funny to ask what else but then exclude the huge healthcare and biomedical research industry. Aerospace industry is pretty large as well.
Manufacturing is large also, including petrochemical which does well with low oil prices by the way. I'm not certainly not saying oil and gas doesn't have a significant presence. It does. It's just not the only player as it was on the 80s/early 90s.

I think Baton Rouge home prices are crazy right now!
10 years ago a 4000 sf house was $500,000-550,000. Now they are $750,000 to 1,000,000.

No they haven't. I was thinking of buying, but I'm gonna wait until next year.
Like someone said, early 2016 is when I expect them to come down. I don't expect anything close to any collapse, though, but they have to come down some.
