Only real problem now is that no life insurance company will provide me with coverage because I was on subs for so long.
Is that because they think you have a higher chance to od? Can they write a policy that doesn’t cover an od?

Make sure you’re careful with it baw. If you relapse remember that your tolerance ain’t what it used to be. Easy way to overdose. Good luck

Yes. Because suboxone is used to treat heroin and other opiate addiction, it is an automatic decline for almost any life insurance policy, even the sorry graded policies that have a 2-year wait to get the full death benefit.

I snorted Methadone one. It was pretty dumb, but I understood why the call it “dope”. It just kinda makes you feel worthless.

Pretty much all opiates make you feel worthless

Yeah. And its pretty understandable really. I'm just upset with myself for not thinking about the future. But its hard for a drug addicted 24 year old to think any further than 6 hours in advance.
I really just wish there was a disclaimer or something that I would have seen before I started getting them prescribed.
For the life insurance, I went and did blood work, drug tests, physicals, and none of it mattered due to the suboxone. I'm an extremely healthy 30 year old and run close to 40 miles a week. Its a damn shame.
Thats a good question about the writing of one that doesn't pay if its OD. I may have to reach out to someone and see if thats a thing.

So you used to be addicted to Suboxone?

Yeah, was prescribed them for 5 years until I quit cold turkey

Methadone is just trading addictions.

Nope. Worked in metro New Orleans for 10 years and now I’m on the northshore. Only one doctor that I’ve seen still write for methadone but he’s writing it for pain management not for dependence. All doctors I see write suboxone or subutex for dependence.

Luckily I don’t even really know what those do.

Suboxone can help you maintain for a while but you will feel pretty depressed. After a while I just bit the bullet and got clean and sober with nine months of treatment and a 3/4 house. I’m coming up on eight years sober in June.
There is no denying that you are in a hole right now and there is no easy way out. Mother Nature will cash that check. I think it’s better to pay the price now and just get off of everything.
And yes, I lost my professional license for 18 months. I went from making 200k to flipping burgers at Five Guys and then commercial painting, but I got everything back.
I have NEVER seen any of my patients successfully ween themselves off of Suboxone. I imagine that it is a very rare occurrence.

It took me like 3 weeks - a month before I felt halfway normal
If you don't mind me asking, what dosage were you at when you stopped? We're trying to get my lil brother to quit and that keeps coming up.

I had the shits for 6 months and other post secondary symptoms for 18 months, but I was a special case.

Don’t know much about that. Artie Lange is doing well, over a year clean. If he can do it, anyone can
