Not looking to handle myself, just a place that will fill up my AC unit with R12. Thanks.

Good luck with that. Only guys I know that still have r12 are commercial and home ac guys. Auto shops did away with that stuff years ago. Starting in 2020 if you have to get a recharge on your older home ac unit with r12 they you will be forced to buy a completely new unit. You can thank the EPA for that.

Those guys typically will have R-22 not R-12

Again, pretty sure you're thinking of R-22

Won't cool nearly as well, though.

I have a cylinder of Dupont 12 but I live in Denham Springs. Also have the correct manifold gauge set for it.

I thought r134a was the preferred replacement. Also seem to remember that FR-12 was supposed to perform like R-12 (and still EPA compliant) but not sure if they make it anymore.

Well unless you know someone who has some black market 20 year old r11 that's his only choice.

I thought r134a was the preferred replacement.

I believe there is a conversion to r134a. Probably a kit you ca buy on Amazon

I will buy any R-12 if it’s worth my drive to you. I can go $250 for ever 20 pounds you have.

This is incorrect. And unless it's a 60s or 70s model the oil will not have to be drained. Pag oil is compatible with almost all oils used from the 80s onward.

one thing to be cautioned about, back in the day R12 was very scarce and people were mixing it with propane. Propane cools way more efficiently that freon but if the system develops a leak and is near an ignition source then , well you know what happens. They actually made devices to test the pureness of R12

Ester is compatable with r12, r134a and can be be mixed with pag. It's also easier on seals than pag.

Check on A1-auto they have a replacement product called R350 and R69 depending on your needs.

The problem with the oil used wasn't necessarily a compatibility problem. It was more a lubrication needed for specific compressors issue.
