Here's the point no one has made: You can bet your last dollar that most of these journalists are too stupid to learn to code then become effective at it.

When I was a sports editor in the 80s and 90s the amount of money the papers would spend to send us places and cover sports was unreal. They really thought it would never end.

We were actually a day ahead of the sports world with much of the information in the paper in the 80s. TV stations got the morning paper to know most of what they should be covering. How that changed with the internet and cell phones!

I actually saw it coming, though, and took a buyout in the mid 90s. A pretty good one, too. Best thing I ever did. Moved on to a much better occupation. But took a year off to enjoy life before moving on. It was the best year of my life. I still remember heading out to the lake fishing in the morning and the looks of stress and anger in the faces of people going to work. I think people don't realize just how stressed out they really are about their jobs.

Then, I watched as the papers started folding. People began receiving nothing, no more buyouts, as they went. Some got little or no notice. Not pretty.

Now, it's a joke. Nobody reads the paper anymore. The writing is terrible. Papers are afraid to cover anything because they don't want to be sued.

I can see how these remaining people would be lost after losing their jobs. And, anyone who went to a paper in the past few years as a career is a total dumbass.

To put it in perspective, that person is a biological male who thinks he’s a woman.

Telling someone they should code is easy to do but honestly, F that crap. Unless you're an introvert I don't see why anyone would want to code. Gain 50lbs, grow a neck beard and develop carpal tunnel by the time you're 40 sounds no way to live life.

People should tweet the real question:

Can you teach “journalists” to code?

Does being an opinion writer/reporter pay anything worth a damn?

And are these people working from an office or from their couch?

Okay. Maybe these activist “journalists” can learn to sell used cars.

That’s a much more respectable profession in 2019 in the US than being a scumbag liar “journalist”.

Most likely they are writing it all in some hipster coffee shop.

I know a few that work for GE and Accurant, and you're right they are pretty clean guys. I did sit through a coding bootcamp a few years back and half the guys in the class were what I described.

And a Romantic Comedies PHD? I assume that’s a joke.

She did say literal, so either its not a joke or she doesn't understand the definition.

She's just trying to be funny about her PhD. I suspected she had a doctorate in some sort of media discipline where she wrote her dissertation on romantic comedies.

Which is the case, and it examines the films with some sort of feminist view.

So...to be fair to the girl, she does indeed have a PhD where she studied rom-coms.

edit: hmmm...the link to the pdf didn't work correctly on my first try.

an opinion editor with a huge and diverse rolodex, or a columnist with 10 years of writing about gender politics (and a literal PhD in romantic comedies) under her belt, talk to me.

How do they expect to make a living? It's all BS. They are snake-oil salesmen.

My son went through a coding program at University of Texas - San Antonio. It last for four months and it is intensive. He got a great job with a start up right after graduation. Guy came up to him and said "I don't believe in resumes and all that HR shite, I saw your group's presentation so lets meet for lunch and see if we can work together."

Starbucks can have a job fair to employ some of these people. They got writing experience which comes in handy writing names on a cup.

I will keep hammering this point: The Left are almost ALL Sociopaths at this point.

A normal human being WOULD cringe at the thought of typing that out.
