Joke's on you...stealing is legal now, you can skip the checkout completely. Just move to California.

Really hit or miss on the Walmart.

Went the other day:
They have separate check out registers at the paint section, make-up section, and hunting section but none were staffed.
26 registers but only 2 open and the rest were self check out.

Mind you this was at like 2 or 3 pm on Friday. So not like it was a late night run.

That self checkout means that there is one less person on payroll for Lowes to pay. You see the savings by keeping the prices fair.

where is the savings for the customer if we have to check ourselves out?

Usually it’s time, for me…

Unless I have a shopping cart full of groceries, self checkout is quicker

This is the thing, if you want to check yourself out then it's cool to have that option but it's obvious they kept whittling down cashiers and taking advantage of us. I guess we deserve it because we've let them.

All stores should have your pay preference cc, ap, ca or whatever as soon as you pick up an item and put it in your cart it scans the item, once you leave the store your are charged and you are on your way.

I'm 65 and love self checkout. I feel sorry the 70 and 80 years olds who won't try it I laugh at people my age and younger who haven't figured out they'd get out of the store much faster if they didn't wait in line.

I'd shop Academy more if they had self check.

The self check at Cicle K does that for all of the items you lay on it.

Now that's convenient.

Should be law they have to discount your purchase a certain % for self-checkouts.

Some of the grocery store ones don't take cash.

this is a lie at grocery stores. You need to call over a cashier if you have alcohol and if you have produce you need to find the code and weigh it etc. Its still a shitty process

I was at a Publix last weekend in Florida. The store was packed. Like you couldn't hardly get down the aisles with your buggy. All 12 or so registers were open and there were no lines.

Target will be 10-15 deep at the self checkout line and not crowded at all.

I was at Safeway today. Both registers were 5 people deep with blue hairs and I walked up to one of the 4 (out of 6) self-checkout kiosks that were open and breezed right out.

Your move.
