re: Has the NS housing market cooled off?

We built our dream home in a Mandeville subdivision a few years ago. I Can sell this home for at the very least 175k more than what it cost us to build.

The smaller, more cookie cutter, hoods are seeing prices level off, but I doubt there are many people who will lose money on a sale.

We own an old home in old Mandeville that we rent out. We had plans to purchase the lot next door and expand on the original home and make it our long term residence, but prices in old Mandy are just stupid and probably getting worse. The lot next door, if sold, would probably run upwards of 250k and that for 50x200.

These prices are comedy; $120/sqft, lulz.

Poor as frick.

Can't you buy all of Iowa for like $500K?

I mean Drew Effin Tate's CFL signing bonus could probably do the whole deal, except for what he takes out for Xanax, obviously.

I'm in old Mandeville as well. It will only get better here and it's already great. As more mini mansions get built, the value of my property only goes up and up! Beau Chene was my first choice but building a new home on the course is just not a realistic possibility unless you want to over pay to tear something down. We ended up building on 1+ acres in a subdivision on the Mandy/Covington border. I like my anonymity so I won't go further into detail.

If I can ever get the lot next door, for a reasonable price, to my rental in old Mandy we will most likely boot my tenants, raise the house and then add on to it. The ability to walk to restaurants, bars and th lakefront from our home couldn't be beat.
