He didn't shake anyone down. It was an agreed-upon compensation for hitting goals thought impossible at the time. The BOD came up with it. It was only blocked by one shareholder who was not on the BOD and an overzealous judge. The judge was more than likely influenced by Elon's politics.
He also admitted he was using that money to further fund getting to Mars. He said it like 100 times.

For those who aren't aware, his board just gave him another $46,000,000,000 in compensation. He said he would leave if he didn't get it.

What makes this guy feel so self important that someone should have to rearrange their schedule and travel just to appear on an obscure podcast?
I’m sure they have many other requests that they can’t fit in but this dude is trying to make a big deal of it. Apparently he’s been offered an interview but feels offended he has to travel for it? I don’t know anything about this guy but that sounds pretty damn silly.
