If you want to keep cox go to one of the locations and talk tot h there. If you call they get paid in what you keep/cost.
Att eh cox store you can get a better deal. They have rules of what they can do and they will help you.

At some point, 3 months ago I had my internet magically upgraded from 250 to 500, and under a new plan name. Never got a notification or anything.
yep, its pretty common.
their thoughts on doing it are, we give them increased speeds for free for a while, then say now we are no longer giving it to you for free, so pay up, or the speeds will be slower, and most customers wont want the slower speeds.
its like how they used to give you 2-3 weeks of free movie channel access, then cut you off, and hope they like it and buy the movie channel package
your getting the 250 you signed up for, i dont see why you have an issue with it.

I get 1 GB fiber with unlimited d/l through CSipre in MS. Best thing out there compared to ATT, ComCast and satellite. It’s $70.00/month flat rate

They all play those little games including cell phone companies.

Something like this happened to me recently as well.
I had the 250 and bill shot up due to the promo ending. The next day I got a text from Cox saying they were "upgrading me" to 500 for the same price as what I was going to be paying for 250, I just had to reboot my modem for it to take effect. I let it upgrade to 500, then just went and changed my plan online to one that was closer to what I was paying before.
I really hate Cox being the only option at my house. I had ATT fiber at my last house. I miss it.

Similar. I had the second fastest tier with cox. like 500 down and 10up. They said that was the best my modem could do. I wasn't buying a new modem for higher upload speeds. Called to cancel when I switched to ATT and they told me i could have the 700down and like 200 up for the same price. I was like def cancel now. I did have trouble on video calls and I think it was the 10 up.

Ive had equally as bad customer service with spectrum.
Ended up giving att fiber a go, after having sworn off att many moons ago. Its the best isp experience ive ever had. I dont think i’ve dropped internet once. Which saves me having to call and deal with anyone’s customer service.

I have dealt with ATT internet over the years and I will never again. F ATT customer service.
ATT is horrendous. To them I’ll add DIRECTV.
Bad customer service, lying, passing you on and on to different agents and different and wrong departments until you hang up is their business model.
