Has complimenting a woman on the internet ever gotten you laid?

I have a cousin who is kind of average looking in my opinion (sorry no pics) and she gets tons of attention from guys who post "sexy" or "beautiful" whenever she posts a picture on social media. I don't get the rationale of it and why so many dudes waste their time doing it.

Yeah - when I worked at the public library - it was kinda creepy how many people scroll through pics of people they don’t know (or do know) - and make comments and stuff

It has never worked for me. But then again, I think women see me as creepy since I am in my fifties and still single.
Honestly, I am not creepy, and have never abused a woman in my life. Somehow, I got the George Constanza look about me I guess.
