It hasn't for me. I still read books.

reading is a common habit amongst people I'd consider successful.
I think it depends on what's being read. Reading something cobbled together by the James Patterson committee, or 50 Shades of Grey, doesn't necessarily make you a better person than a House of Cards or Breaking Bad binge-watcher.
I don't read physical books or fiction all that much anymore. But I still read a lot. But now it's just a lot of white papers, technical blogs, and forum posts (some higher brow than others).

The books are so much better.
I generally read much more than I watch TV. I'll binge a show for 2-3 weeks then go back to reading at night for a month.
This.
I probably read 50-70 books a year. Maybe more if you call 400 pages 1 book.
I probably watch 30-40 individual tv shows a year. *
*If you don't count sports in there.

I am "binge watching" Sons of Anarchy, but usually I don't want more than 2 or 3 episodes at a time, I am also in the middle of a book that I would have finished by now if I didn't use the time watching SOA so I say it can take time away from reading books.

Not sure whether or not this is sarcasm, but either way it made me laugh.

Based on your comment about "maybe more if you call 400 pages 1 book", this leads me to believe that the books you are reading are longer than 400 pages on average. Let's go with 500 pages. Each page has an average of 250 words on it. So the average book you read has about 125,000 words.
The average person reads at about 200 words per minute. You're an avid reader, so we'll bump that up to 300. At that rate, you can read a book in about 7 hours.
If you're reading 70 of them a year, you finish a book roughly every 5 days. Assuming your reading is not completely uninterrupted and that you have to put the book down occasionally to go pee, you read an hour and a half every day. And I think that's probably a conservative estimate.
So assuming you also work and sleep, how do you find time to masturbate?

I haven't read recreationally since my college days in the mid to late 90s. I read so much during the work day that the idea of reading books doesn't appeal to me anymore. Everyone doesn't read for work these days, but social media now makes them read all day for personal reasons. Training ourselves all day on short form reading is probably a much bigger issue than NetFlix.
