Has anyone used the controversial airline ticket price finder, Skiplagged?

It's gotten a lot of press lately, namely for being sued by the airlines. How it works is, on certain flights, it costs less to fly to a connecting airport and final destination that it does to fly just to the connecting airport. Then, if you wanted your destination to be at the connecting airport, you just get off the plane and "miss" the next flight.
For example, I'm about to buy a ticket to go skiing in Park City next week. It will cost $312 to fly round trip to Salt Lake City and back. However, buying a ticket to Vancouver, with a layover in SLC, is $80 less than if SLC is the destination. I buy that ticket to Vancouver, then a one way flight from SLC back home and save $80. And instead of going to Vancouver I just leave the SLC airport. Of course, you don't check in luggage when you do this.
It seems like a good idea, but kind of sketchy and might not be worth the small amount saved. The website's founder is going through some legal trouble over this. Has anyone done this, or have any input on if it's a good idea? Not worried about getting arrested but it wouldn't be good if the airline found out.

There was a thread last week about it. I couldnt easily figure out the website to find deals so I gave up. Dont care about what the airlines think about me getting off the flight early.

How are you gonna pack for skiing and not check a bag?

I'd be concerned you end up on a full flight where they force you to check your bag while boarding.
That would suck.
Better pack only a backpack

Just my jacket and pants would fill a carry on

Yeah, no shite. Especially flying out of BR or something where they always grab your shite.

Was wondering the same thing. Just got back from a ski trip there with my two teenage girls. Needless to say, carry-on wouldn't cut it.

Yeah that's the kind of thing I'm afraid might happen.

Can you just explain how you're going skiing somewhere with only a carry on?

I've gone skiing with only a carry-on.
My friends are rich and own a house in the Country Club of the Rockies at Beaver Creek/Arrowhead. It has a closet full of ski clothes. We fly into Vail, pick up the Escalade that the property manager leaves at the airport, go rent skis, and just grab whatever goggles, pants, jackets, gloves, etc are in the closet.

They pink tag bags and you get them when you deplane. They don't ever check your bags to the final destination against your will.
For those worried about being forced to check luggage.

I just packed it to see..can get my jacket, pants, socks, thermals, and some clothes..will bring a small booksack with some other stuff. It's only a 4 night trip so it's pretty manageable. I'll actually be saving an extra 50 bucks by not checking in bags when I would have otherwise.

Yeah, shouldn't be a problem as long as they don't use the same plane for the next leg.. Which in my case, they don't. I'm gonna go for it

Do it. Airlines are constantly screwing us. Gas goes down, but prices go up! And don't get me started on the lack of peanuts on board!
Revolution!

I find it pretty odd an international flight is cheaper than a domestic flight. I guess they jack up prices for ski season.
