Thanks alot but really, it bears repeating. It's a long thread and some things shouldn't get lost in this.
I started a thread and put out some dog food. Jodyplauche, Americangirl, cootkilla, Proximo, swagga, Insee and some others I'm probably leaving out did the work.

Wasn’t my drone, I called a friend who called a friend.
Plus I love my dog more than anything and would be devastated if this happened to mine.

I'd also wouldn't mind encouraging folks to donate to local rescue groups. I'm most certain that they are all under added strains lately to inflation of food, vet bills, and relocation costs. TIA
Excellent idea. Takes Paws Rescue, and ARNO are two groups in the NOLA area that do great work in rescuing and finding homes for dogs and other pets. They can always use some extra support.

I was about to drive out last night to provide backup, however the flu has kicked my arse all week.
Woke up this morning and found out the dog was still missing and it was enough motivation to summon the drone and drive 70 miles to help.

I use Amazon smile when shopping where Amazon donates 0.5% of your eligible purchases at no cost to you. I have a local shelter selected for my beneficiary. There are a ton of animal rescue organizations on there.

My only regret is that I wasn’t out there the same time as Insee and the drone. Would have loved to see some of that footage.

Dude gets a lot of shite here for his political takes, but no one can crap on him for this story. Dude drove from BR to help a guy he doesn't know in one of the shittiest areas of NOLA, at night.
Someone needs to get him a damn beer or two
Amen

Awesome. Yes. We work with an area pet rescue and the costs are pretty high. The organizer does most of the soliciting, we are just one of the fosters. But we've fostered probably near 80 or so cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies just in the past 12 months. Food alone adds up. Then there are all the spaying bills ( typically done at vets that do it cheaply). What does escalate quickly, though, is when a pet needs extensive medical treatments.
We've had a number of kittens that nearly died, but we had to medicate, etc. not to mention bottle feeding them. One (not one of our foster pets) right now had to have a leg amputation due to a car. I know from recent vet bills that alone was probably over $1000. Probably way over.
The rescue groups do get paid the adoption fee, to recover some of the costs. Most of our fosters head up to places like Connecticut and Massachusetts.

If you had gone out there tonight I probably would have toughed it out and come out there to help you guys.
