we're both catholic, but don't go to mass often. both went to Catholic schools exclusively growing up.

If she is from more conservative roots and you are planning to stay in a more moderate area, she should be fine. I went to graduate school at a fancy far left university, and I’m further to the right now than I was when I graduated LSU with my undergrad. The real question is if you two are able to hold respectful conversations about your differences in opinions. If you respect her enough to marry her, I hope you value her judgment and intelligence. The only red flag is an inability to hear ideas that differ from her own. That’s a sign of poor critical thinking skills, and that will absolutely spill over into other areas of your marriage. That counts for you, too. Are you able to respectfully discuss your views with her?

I've only fricked a lot of them. My ex wife went far left after our divorce, and after she moved to Austin.

Originally thinking about proposing soon, but now I'm at a crossroads.

She was originally completely apolitical, she knew I liked Trump and never seemed to care at all. I don't wear a MAGA hat and shirt around but she knew I voted for him. She's in grad school in Boston and I'm in Florida, she's moving back after May. She told me that she had been going to some pro-choice rally I dismissed it at first as trendy, I mean she's a woman in her 20s, and it's sort of expected. Now I see she's starting to attend Boston "Party for Socialism and Liberation" events and "Boston Socialist Alternative". She's been regurgitating typical left-wing talking points. Her father is an extremely conservative man.

I can go on but don't want to turn this into an essay that nobody will read. I don't know too many older conservative men, so I turn to the OT. Has anyone made it work? Should I end this relationship now before it's too even harder, it'll already be pretty damn tough. Thanks.

SOunds like she, like most people who leave the area they were born and raised in, is growing, while you, like most people who do not expand their life experiences, are not. That is unlikely to change. She will probably end it pretty quickly herself...because she has already moved on. She may not realize it yet but as soon as y'all are back together more and more she will realize that she has grown and you have not. Most women do this, by the way, as they mature they change, most men simply get more entrenched. It is a major reason why marriage is difficult...if a couple remains stagnant it can work, if they grow simultaneoulsy it can work, neither happens often and people find themselves in miserable situations.


If you are considering ending it it is unlikely that she is not ahead of you....both of you are better off acting like adults and just ending it. Life is too short to be miserable and thats where yall are headed.
