Thinking about doing it this year.

Is it going to be really fricking crowded on either of those days, or since its Christmas and people are with family and under their tree instead will it be less crowded?

It would be in Washington State by the way(Crystal Mountain)

I have, skiing on Christmas day is great, especially if you get out for the morning session.

Is it more crowded or less crowded than a normal day?

Doing it this yr and did last yr as well.....not bad about the same....you have lots of local folks not spending christmas there and lots of out of towners that are so it evens out.

We usually go to Red River. It's not slammed, but it's busy enough...

How is red river? I haven't been since I was in 7th but my dad want to go for Mardi Gras. The trail map looks tiny

Yes.. a few years again in Snowmass. The crowd wasn't bad but it wasn't empty. All around a great day and fun time after presents and the morning routine.

It's good. It's not the biggest ski area, but it's good for what you get. The town is tiny, but decent stuff to eat/shop at considering. They're pretty LA-friendly and do a pretty decent Mardi Gras. Was there back in September and we could see a shite-ton of beads in the trees as we were heading up the lift to tube down.

The biggest issue is getting there.

You either drive, which would suck from where you are (it takes us about 12-hours from Austin), or you have to fly into Santa Fe or Albuquerque and drive up (it's about 2-hours from Santa Fe).

Let me know if you need a place if you go - I have a connection.

Once in Kaprun, Austria and it really wasn't that crowded either day, but the time we went in the French Alps there were a few more people on the slopes on Christmas day.

Yeah it's damn near a 20 HR drive from here which is impossible with my kids. I'll let you know if we go, I'm pushing for Belize for Easter instead of red river

I've been numerous times. Close to town lifts/resorts will be loaded with skiers. The ones a little further out will be thinned some. Overall it's not that bad honestly.
