Sounds like his friend decided to try and circumvent the permit system.

People do this all the time.

shite SCI will do it for you.

I am close friends with 1 of only 12 federal game wardens in the US. This is the type shite they deal with.

Your Sea turtle boots from Mexico are fake...98% chance.

He was with me when I bought my exotics in Mexico

DSC too. He was trying to saves one pennies and it fricked him by spending thousands. If he didn't have permits at customs he got popped with fines for illegally taken ivory as well.

Yeah, I don't even understand how this happens unless he was poaching. ETA or lying

To take an elephant you HAVE to go through a very serious outfitter. All the research I have done, I haven't found one that doesn't aid in the permit process.

My guess. Ole boy went to Africa, killed some plains game, came back told everyone he took an elephant and it got seized.

No. I have seen photos of him with the beast and I have seen letters from US Customs. Now the comment about him not getting a permit, tag or whatever from the US... I know nothing about that.

Last I heard, there was a fine or something involved. So if that sounds like failure to apply for permission ahead of time then there you go. But he swears up and down he had the paperwork filed where he took the hunt.

When we go to SLP, MX City or Monterrey, we have armed escorts and drivers at all times. We used to walk across to Nuevo Laredo every time we went to Laredo back in the 90s. I don't think I'd venture over there nowadays. Risk vs reward is just too high now. You are probably OK 99% of the time, but that 1% is a bad day if it happens.

That is why you hunt with SCI or DSC affiliated outfitters. They are the authority on that kind of shite. Sucks for your buddy but I still think he fricked up.

That's what I figured. Walk over during the day, know where you're going, you should be fine. Be in the wrong place at the wrong time, kidnap and execution. How likely that is, I don't know.
