Have the chance to take a fully remote role, but concerned since its been ingrained that you're probably the first they axe when it comes to cuts. Out of sight, out of mind kind of thing.

I suppose this is the future, but even though I been remote with my current company 2 years, I been with then for 4.

Transitioning to a fully remote role with no history seems risky. Has anyone else been hired in fully remote...what the experience like?

Depends, do you drive revenue or are you a cost?

I’m fully remote. So is everyone else though.

You going to work for a company where most people aren’t remote?

Everyone remote now. Some could see some transition back to home office at some point. This role stays remote.

I have no issues making quota with the company so far but I don't feel as "in" as the workers that transitioned to remote from working at the office.

We were bought out a couple years ago by a much larger company and I essentially became a remote worker. My boss was in Minnesota and I was made lead over a team of a few people, a couple of which were also remote. It was quite an adjustment (for me personally) to not see my team in person every day and trying to interact over Teams. It can be very challenging to not be able to just walk into an office and bounce something off your colleagues. All the corporate stuff that goes along with being part of a public corporation was not the best either IMO. On the flip side, the freedom of being able to leave your desk at almost any point and take care of personal stuff while still getting all your work done is pretty awesome.

In the end though it still wasn't for me. Starting a new job on the 11th.

Well in that case you’re fine. I’ve been managing a team of 15, all remote. Just have metrics on performance and people get paid to do their job. Hard to hide if you don’t. I didn’t really see people in the office before, just not enough time to watch people and do my role well. So no different in or out of the office.

We hire fully remote employees all the time. We want smart, driven people, not just local based - although local could be preferred. But then again I work for an amazing company. Remote/hybrid work depends on you and the company and how you value each other.

Capture Management and Contract Negotiation. This would be more part of the Biz Dev team.

Why would they axe you first because of cuts? This is boomer fuel BS fed to you by toxic middle management. My company prefers fully remote because they don’t have to rely on local talent and a person moving there not having cold feet on them.

Then it may a bit of a valid concern. That can be outsourced or contracted.

Up to you to do your research

I thought everyone had the option to be remote now?

Abt a year and never met my team or manager in person. Lots of Zoom calls and we are all professionals, absolutely love it. Wake up 7:50, log in at 8. Entire company (insurance) is remote so that is the new normal for us. Have no interest in going to an office any more.

I work fully remote for a company headquartered out of state. Fly out there a few times a year for marketing and training events only. It's pretty dang cool.

Just sold my business and took a fully remote position. It’s sales so I am a revenue driver and a cost center. I’m part of a 10 person team and we meet every morning at 8:30 for 30 minutes via Teams. I have 2 1 on 1 meetings with my boss each week. Other than that, I’m on the phones with patients 8 hours a day.

Gotta say I’m enjoying it so far. Sure as hell beats living out of a suitcase 200 nights a year.

I am remote. I love it. I am a manager, and all my employees work out in the field, so I would manage them from a desk and interact with them via slack even if I were there. ( Colorado) The only thing I hate about it, is that it's impossible for me to "unplug", and I work more because my employees are in MST, and I have to be available as early as 7 my time for call outs, and until the end of their workday which is 6 here.
