The frick? This is your example? You desperately need that ‘liberal’ education because my god, this is one of the worst answers you could have possibly given.

The absurdity of pointing out the truth, right? Don't let me get in the way of you white-knighting for the defenseless OP, sir neckbeard. I respectfully concede with a tip of my fedora. You win.

What exactly should we be doing to prevent “good times” in a society? Since they create such weak people that will inevitably create bad times?

The world would be a better place if social media and video games didn't exist. They're making kids fat, lazy, stupid, narcissistic attention whores. Weak men that will cause hard times.

So how is one supposed to interpret “good times make weak men,” other than inferring that good times are a bad thing?

completely disagree. couldn't disagree more...i thought anyway, until i read your rebuttals, then i actually did disagree more.

disregard the "men" part and insert "people" instead. if general life experience hasn't told you that people who endure hardships and don't get anything easily are typically tougher, less soft, and more resilient than coddled, spoiled people, then i don't know what to tell you. that's the overall point of the meme, and arguing that for the sake of having a hot take is pretty embarrassing. terrible thread.

You’re correct. We do fear hard times because we don’t want people to needlessly suffer as the result of preventable decisions.

“Over a little inflation” holy shite talking about muting reality. It’s the worst inflation since Carter’s incompetent leadership sparked, not singularly, but significantly to primarily due to the economic decisions by progressive minded government officials.

They're neutral. Most people don't have the ability to handle good times, it changes them.

LIke money, its neither good nor bad, but most people would destroy themselves with extreme wealth. That doesn't mean its bad.

Most people choose the path of least resistance, which renders them less capable. We've become fat and mentally soft.

The quote doesn’t say anything about anyone being spoiled or any of that. It says hard times create strong men, and good times create weak men. It also implies that it’s a cycle(which is not supported historically). But judging off of the merits of the quote, would you agree that good times are a bad thing for a society? That’s the other thing, the quote is obviously speaking on a societal and not personal level.
