Canal is already closed in both directions, no way the implosion goes as planned and all the debris is cleaned off the street by late February.

Serious question: Is Canal really closed both ways?? I haven't been back home in a few months so I didn't know that. That really will frick up Endymion...

For like two blocks, yes. But it's actually not bad traffic wise at all once you get how the detours work.

Have they even recovered the remaining bodies from the accident yet?

We can only get close enough to see one from the inside, but there isn’t a way to recover. The other is impossible to reach for visual. Fire crews have been in the building 10-15 times a day for weeks. They suspended efforts a couple weeks ago. Neither will ever be able to recover while the building stands.

And honestly there isn’t any body to recover, but liquid and bones at this point. I don’t know the plans after the implosion.

The issue it's created, though, is not getting around that particular detour, it's the traffic it has forced to be funneled elsewhere that sort of creates a domino effect on areas well away from that particular spot.

I haven't really found it all that bad, and I drive through it almost every day.

Yes, but just Rampart to Dauphine/Baronne. It’s been shortened considerably.

There are probably no less than five different insurers arguing right now over who has to pay what.

Probably several carriers on the builders risk. The GC's liability carrier. The E&O carrier for the architect. All the carriers for any subs involved.

Just how much in liability limits do you people really think the developer, contractors, architects, engineers were carrying?

My guess is no more than $10-$15m is all there is.

The city, the alleged injured plaintiffs, the businesses that will make loss of income claims against the parties are in for a rude awakening as far as getting compensated or reimbursed for their expenses.

Aka they will be SOL

The city is going to end up owning a piece of land that the current mayor has stated will be taken out of commerce and turned into a park/memorial.

Let that sink in.

This mayor will take a corner of Canal St. and make its net tax benefit to the city be ZERO.

I, for one, think a rush to implode the building is the best situation for me as a spectator. Lots of potential entertainment.

As for the 48 hours thing, rescue vs recovery. You will take risk for rescue that you won't for recovery.

Finally, the dude frequents Oceana Grill. I don't trust his opinion on anything.

She will be gone eventually. The next mayor will see one time money in selling it.

Or we try to turn it into a transportation hub. Which would be acceptable to me.

it is highly likely that the GL and BR carriers have already written the checks for the policy limit(s). thats all the blood there is in that turnip

This is not true. Bodies don’t decompose into “liquid and bones” in that time frame

Yes the bodies are nasty AF but they’re still bodies
