I appreciate that. I miss him all the time. He was always my example to look up to and never disappointed. He wasn't a saint or anything but I think damn good man is a perfect description

dating sucked back then. i had to try & coax a girl to go out with me while sitting on the cold floor connected to a twisty phone line while my parents walked back & forth and my older brother made fun of me.
This.. our phone was on the counter in the kitchen as you walked into the den... Not even a place to sit except the floor!!!

i still remember the feeling dialing that LAST digit of the girl's phone number and holding it...holding...then finally releasing it to a gust of adrenaline that it was about to connect.
good times. i was petrified of the fairer sex back then.
eta i could also tell who my mom was calling based on the 'rhythm' of the dial pattern.
that was our version of morse code.

Thinking about phone numbers.. our number was just one digit off from a much more popular guy in my class. I also had a brother with the same name as Mr. Popular, sooo we were frequently screening calls from all sorts of dramatic girls who misdialed and got the wrong house... LOL.

I do not... I think I was with JM, but could be wrong about that too.
And yes. I was mean. I was a mean, self absorbed biotch. I have tried to improve on that and always made sure I raised children better than myself.

what you fail to understand is that meant nothing to the boys back then, even though you felt bad about it.
you WERE mean as a snake i recall.

Yeah.. I thought I was just a "tough cookie". Took me a long time to realize I didn't have to be that way, and have been much happier since I mellowed.
So many things I'd go back and change... But we can't. Gotta press onward and upward!

quote:As Jr High kids we would call the dorms at NLU, and just keep dialing numbers until someone answered. The cheerleader and dance camps were up there and they stayed in a dorm, I forget the name but it was over there by Ewing Coliseum. We were just sure that some body that answered would fall in love with us.

There was this white spitz over there on Walton I think it was. Would try to bite you daily.
On a Lakeshore note, who remembers that giant doberman that roamed. Patton. Poor dog was as sweet as can be but one day on the playground he chased one of those kickballs and bit it and it busted. We were terrified.

Didn't know him, but I got my arse chased up a tree on Hinke Drive by a German Shepherd Dog once walking home from Ray's....

Hinke and Lula were like foreign lands to us. I never had friends in there. I do remember trying to collect money there for Jerrys Kids. Mom told me to go over there and ask for donations. I may as well have been told to go to Columbia.

i got one better...i used to cruise the street that went through the middle of NLU in my 1976 burgundy monte carlo w/ my hand resting on the open sunroof blaring rick springfield or ACDC waiting for some cute coed walking along the sidewalk to fall in love with me and jump in the moving car!
eta it could have happened. speed limit was like 15mph through NLU
