Howard Brothers only gets an "Honorable Mention"?

And you even used a Land-O-Toys picture!

Jack McCall was legit though (fun fact: he and June couldn't stand each other).

Shoutouts to the Mohawk and Sal's Saloon. Like Coney Island, they are still going.

I used to work for Louisiana Power & Light and am familiar with virtually every one of those faces and places.

We used to go to Burger Chef. It had a lot of glass and you could see the kitchen area from outside. My Dad would always park where we could watch the fryer station. They used to have a big fat guy who ate as many french fries as he served.

Any Monroe thread would be horribly incomplete without mention of Sal’s Saloon. That place was legendary back in the day on a Thursday night. I met my girlfriend and now wife at the Honky Tonk. Actually had to poach her from one of my fraternity brothers, which was a common tactic just because back then.

For any of you baws that miss that Danny's fried chicken, there's a place in Mt. Hermon, La called Brooks general store that sells the stuff. It's a scenic ride from i55 or going through Franklinton on Hwy 25 from Covington. Once you've had your chicken you can drive to the Lynard Skynard memorial that's about an hour away. Really nice drive this time of year.

Yep, and nearby Marianna’s for incredible plate lunches. Taco Bandito also needs a mention.

Btw that south 2nd Coney Island has not only the GOAT tamales, but also the GOAT chili dogs & chili cheeseburgers

Man I had forgotten about Friar Tuck's.

When I was a kid my brother and I used to come up from Texas to spend summers at my Aunt and Uncle's house in the Pine Hills subdivision and golf course off Hwy. 80 towards Calhoun. Sometimes we'd get Friar Tuck's for dinner.

First time I had ever eaten fried rolls. Don't remember much about the chicken, just the rolls.

My family probably put Dick's kids through college and I'm sure Rodney probably thought I was the biggest pest but that man helped me become the hunter I am today.

Damn them pictures brought back some memories, especially that pic of Melvyn's looking back to Forsythe with Weil Cleaners right there. I remember when all that got leveled. There was also the Texaco on the corner where Tiger Mart is now along with the old 7-11 that is now Starbucks.

Dude, you must be 80 lol. Blockbuster....holy shite. That had to have been 30 years ago. It's an over priced outdoor furniture place now and Baskin Robbins I think is now a place that sells athletic shoes. I remember that's where Danny's Fried Chicken was as well.
