Yes. And it’ll be handy should I need it again.

If you’re the type that is going to pull it because someone smudged your Puma, you don’t need one. If you’re going to use it for self defense and those that are defenseless, get one. Only you can gauge your mental fortitude.

Haven't needed it yet but I don't want to be caught wishing I had it.

Never needed it. Never leave home without it.

I don't own one. Should probably get one. Recent road rage thread aside,
have any of you been in a situation where you were glad you had it?

Yes. Was more glad that I didn’t have to shoot.

Being raised in a hunting family in South Louisiana I’ve “ ownd” guns since I was a child.

Just curious. What’s your background ?

I’m glad that you are going to arm yourself. Learn how to operate it. Buy a lot of bullets and practice.

I don’t see how people carry Glock 19s with lights and lasers and extended mags….insanity.

Exactly! Home defense? Sure, use a bazooka if you want. Conceal carry? Glock 19 is waaay too bulky for me even without accessories.

I alternate between a Ruger LCR (usually pocket carry) or Canik MC9. Anything bigger and I’d never carry it.

Better to have one and not need it than to need it and not have it.

ETA The hardest thing for me is the extra mag…..I’ve tried to do it but the damn mag holders are so damn pointy!!!

I have absolutely zero desire to carry an extra mag. I’m not saying capacity is not important, but to me it’s not that important in a carry gun.

Only in a hunting situation.

Piece of advice. Never accidentally get between a wild sow and her piglets.

I try to avoid places/areas where I might need to use one but I did stop for gas in El Paso Texas after midnight. One hand was on the pump and the other was on the pistol in my jacket pocket.

I had a guy that kept hanging around my truck at a circle k in Monroe awhile back. Dude kept asking me to roll my window down to sell me drugs, dude was a crackhead. I got fed up and reached for mine in my console and then he left. Closet I came to pulling it out and I hope that’s the closest I get.

I've carried for decades, work and home. Have never had to pull my sidearm.

Never had to pull out a pistol but have been in a couple of situations where that was a possibility. Once was a verbal threat from a couple of young thugs when I was at a traffic light. Light turned green and I drove away. The other time was a road rage incident where a guy ended up stopping in front of me and getting out of his car. He was unarmed but was acting like a lunatic. I was able to drive off.

That’s one thing I loved about SV. Every time I went to Fry’s there were at least 5-6 people open carrying
Yeah, it's a big part of the culture here, which makes sense because SV is where all the descendants of Tombstone and Bisbee live, now that Tombstone is a tiny tourist spot, and Bisbee, while still a cool town, doesn't have a lot of job opportunities outside of hospitality. It's why we're 15 miles from the border and it feels like the safest place on earth. Everyone is carrying, if not open they're probably concealing, and everyone knows it.

. I hate the feeling of bulk. I sometimes carry a pistol but it’s a subcompact. On Reddit I see that dudes are carrying around pretty big pistols then putting optics and flashlights on them. Like how is that possibly comfortable enough to wear regularly?
Yeah, that's wild to me. I struggle to think of a defensive scenario in which I'd need an optic to target a threat that's plausible enough to outweigh the negatives of making my everyday weapon more unwieldy, more difficult to conceal, and uncomfortable to carry.

Me either. I have 17 9mm rounds in my everyday carry. If that's not getting it done then it was just my time. I go to work, the park, the grocery store or whatever. I'm not in any Die Hard situations.
