Had an interesting experience at George's Mexican restaurant in mandevilel

I was eating with my wife and kids earlier today. In the mood for some Mexican food. Here's what played out

Server: sets chips and dip on the table

Me: "we didn't order this"

Server: "We give that to everyone when they sit down"

Me: "So like a handout?"

Her with a baffled face: "I guess so"

I promptly scooted it back to her and because she rolled her eyes I didn't tip her either. My family said I was being unreasonable but I told them they would understand when they grew up and experienced the real world
