Had A Woman Tell Me Yesterday That She Would Choose Her Dog’s Life Over Any....

....of her nieces or nephews. I thought she was joking at first, maybe referring that her nieces and nephews were awful, but she was serious. I would guess she is in her 50’s, and I can only assume she has never had kids and thinks the love she has for her dog is equal to the love a parent has for a child. I had to redirect the conversation pretty quickly to avoid saying something I might regret.

Anyone want to bet her nieces and nephews feel the same way about her?

I had a woman tell me straight up she'd push a human being into traffic in order to save a dog.
These people have a completely warped view of the world.

Yeah these people have been referred to as dognutters and their vocabulary includes "Hoomans and Fur Baby." Can usually be spotted by their "Who rescued who" sticker on the back of their vehicle.

People hold dogs and sometimes cats on pedestals because they show unconditional love.
The people that put them on a REALLY high pedestals are usually shitty people who have only received love from dogs and cats because any human with a brain can see they are shitty people.

When I was a kid I heard a tires screech and a woman scream. I ran out front to see a woman running into the road to pick up her small dog that just got hit by a car. When she picked it up she screamed "it should have been me!". People are nuts, man.

I would definitely choose my dog over a non-relative.

The world is full of mentally ill people.

Really??? As much as I love my dogs, I would like to think that I would put the vast majority of human lives ahead of their lives.

I love my dog, but the infatuation and worship some people have with their pets is legit mentally unhealthy.
They usually have some huge emotional void in their lives and use the pet to try and fill that void. It's fricking sad in most cases

I was pretty depressed about coming off furlough to a shitty job that I hate and was in the midst of reevaluating a lot of life choices and what was important.
When I was pushed by my coworkers to voice these feelings, about what it meant to lose much of my daughter's childhood to work while putting immense pressure on my wife, I got told we all have to man up and deal with it "I want to be with my dog all day - you know, that's the same thing."

Guessing you don't have any friends, other than your dog. Either that or you are one shitty human being.

Any of you who choose a dog over a person are mentally ill.

If you don't believe that mentality exists, bring your kids to the BR Mardi Gras Dog parade. Some, not all, of those parade marchers....

Sounds terrible until you take a good look at the average human these days.

I see nothing wrong with her feeling that way. There's a lot of shitty people out there. If I had to put a number on it, I'd say that I value my dogs life or any dog's life over life of 10% of our "human" population.
