Lastly, there have been some of you who have sent emails to find out my address so you can send presents to my kids. Oh yeah, it is ok to anyone that was skeptical of my story. It’s human nature. I want you to know that I am imperfect but it’s so important to me that you guys believe that I am really a broken man just looking for reasons to live that I am offering my real personal phone number in case anyone wants to question or meet me to see that this is real. Maybe I’m missing something, if so point it out.
I don’t think this is a ‘scam’, assuming:
It has been verified that this poor woman did in fact pass away after what should have been a routine procedure.
CD, started a GFM. Generous OT Ballers contributed.
That’s not a ‘scam’.
GFM total explodes to levels never expected by CD. Family from all reaches of the country get wind of the $22k, swarm in like a coyote on a wounded dachshund. Questionable posts by CD, and others that have since gotten access to his account. OTBs start requesting refunds... family vultures then panic at the losses, use bad judgment and technique trying to stop the bleeding.
Maybe it wasn’t well thought out. Someone (with a lot of time ) could have volunteered to be an executor of the funds. That would have been the smartest thing to do...but “smart” isn’t what this place is about thankfully

Are we even sure the wife died of post-surgery complications at this point? Maybe she OD'd after popping a handful of pills when she got home? OP went to get "prescriptions" for himself, not her. What a shitshow.

Possible, but i seriously doubt it, may sound morbid, but I really hope we get to hear the autopsy report. Although, I seriously doubt that anyone involved could relay the results with any accuracy, short of scanning/posting the documents.
It’s rare but with any type of surgery there is a risk of death. I assure you, she signed an acknowledgment of such. Doesn’t excuse negligence if that was the case.

You know, a lot of people say that...but it's actually not accurate at all.
There are a TON of smart people on here that have, and are more than happy to help people through things. People have provided help on and off the board over the years from words of encouragement, physical help, financial help, and by developing friendships that will last a lifetime.
It's what truly makes this place great - that fact that it IS smart, and that many people care about those on here. Those that can't or choose not to see it are either new here, closed off, or potentially sociopaths.
Taking the story at face value - I have no clue how I would react if my wife unexpectedly passed. That said, if he felt so strongly about this place and the people here as to share that news with us and ask for financial help, then maybe he should have also sought help on how to best secure the funds needed.
The fact that multiple family members have now come to the site inquiring about the money (one using the same account as Data), obviously casts a a bit of a long shadow on the whole ordeal, unfortunately.
